I don't like AIM. I'm alone here most of the time so I don't stay.

aim is okay for me since i use meebo & i don't do much other than art + talk to you guys.

but yeah. when i get on here now i see like, one person online & they're not even on the cb most of the time. so, to aim! because i want to talk to my friends & they're unwilling/unable to go on the cb.
aim is more versatile, i guess

That's the main problem I have. People are unwilling to come to the CB. Its really not that hard. I understand if there's not a lot of people on the CB and there's no point in really coming on, but there's been times where there's been a decent amount of people in the CB and other people wont get off AIM because its 'too much work'. Its really not.

I say find a new type of CB, one that alerts you or some shit.
Or did the CB we have no come with this site as a default?

anyway to be honest i see it like this:
people left lbl because it was too much of a hassle to refresh the page all the time and the cb was easier. understandable.
now people are leaving the cb because it's too much of a hassle to tabswitch every once in a while. what?
while you may have valid arguments, you must keep in mind that not everyone even has AIM downloaded and so they use meebo, which only flashes for attention when a new message has been received. they'd have to tabswitch anyway to even see what the message is, so that kind of makes it a bit of a moot point. also, even though i do use the actual program giving a preview of the text in the bottom right corner, often i don't even notice it or ignore it so i have to pull it up anyway.
also, i use programs like fl studio and paint tool sai a lot, which prevent the taskbar from even coming up. so to even check to see if there's a new message, i have to completely alt+tab out of what i'm doing, which is still the same thing i'd be doing on the cb. another moot point.
it seems to me that a majority of the users here really have no special reason to prefer aim over the cb. maybe it's the four hours of sleep punctuated with horrible back pain talking, but i'm kinda lost as to why it's so hard just to click a few things every once in a while.

i have the perfect CB in mind BUT
i have no idea how to set it up.

ALSO, going back to the theory that CB and AIM conversations are "different", it's because of this split. God I'm going to feel like a history nerd but.. it's kind of like the North and South back before the Civil War, in a way. The same people in the same country, but location and personal preference made them into two completely different societies, so different that they may as well be foreign countries to each other (which eventually happened )

Now I HOPE our separation, depressing as it sounds, doesn't lead to any Civil War :P Rather than fighting we should think of a solution we would all be happy with, which I really appreciate Ro, Hoods, and Chris for doing.


MY personal preference, despite the fact I hardly come on here anymore, is that we somehow all migrate back to HL, with everyone uberly satisfied. ..Somehow. Other than historical record there seems to be almost no use for it, which kind of makes me sad. :( Again because of the CB, and there's only 3 threads at the most that stay active.

We all became friends through Neopets, then LBL, then HL. The reason I support the CB, other than AIM being obnoxious, is because those sites (even Neopets, in a way) are way more personal. Idk how to really explain this. It's like we created our own community on these sites, so they're kind of special to me. I don't feel this way about AIM. It doesn't seem.. as close. Like it lacks the character. OUR character. It only serves one purpose, which is conversation. It just doesn't feel right to me.

just had a lookover of that chat thing. there is unfortunately no way that i can see to fully integrate it onto the site.
if anyone wants me to continue checking it out to see if i can do it anyway, i will, but things won't be as smooth as the current cb:

it will be part of the homepage, as in the place of the screen where the announcement box is;
usernames and the like won't be integrated;
since i have to host the files on UTA's servers, if UTA goes down/runs out of bandwidth (HAHAHAHA)/gets moved, this will go out;
possibly a host of other problems i can't be arsed to find out now

how about we all just shut the fuck up and go on the cb or aim when we want to

then people will follow and hooray

i just have to say if forumotion weren't so tight-assed when it comes to modifying their forums this wouldn't even be an issue

Uhh I just right-click (well, ctrl+click) the group, and it gives me a heap of options, one is 'Ignore'. It's really useful.






And okay, I didn't want to explain this, but if it's going to explain why I'm unwilling to come on the CB, so be it.
I don't enjoy talking to you guys in an instant chat anymore - the forum chats are fine because they stay on a particular topic and people only reply when they wish to say something. But in an instant chat...I don't have anything in common with you guys anymore. It seems like a lot of the time, I feel like I'm the only one that has grown up and actually enjoys talking about serious things. Most of your conversations now, just...don't interest me. I can't contribute, and sitting on the CB and constantly having to tabswitch back to keep alive just to see that there's nothing there I can talk about, is a huge waste of time. And I don't know about you guys, but I have a life - I can't keep doing this all day every day. I have school (well, not atm but you get my point) 35 hours a week, am expected to do 18 hours homework/study per week minimum, have tennis ~8 hours a week, practice guitar half an hour every day, have weights/personal training twice a week... Not to mention time to eat and playing PS3 (because that's always important ;D) and going out with friends/family. Amongst these reasons is also the fact that I lack motivation to get on the CB, because... I just don't enjoy it.
I stick to AIM because I can keep it running in the background, while I do other things, and don't /have/ to talk to you guys if you're talking shit. -Shot-
What I'm about to say isn't intended to be 'childish', but either way: I am not willing to come back to the CB because of everything I have said, which I believe is clearly reasonable. If you guys wish to come back, so be it, I will not stop you in any way. Just don't expect me to be coming back because you guys are, but that being said, it doesn't worry me all that much. I'd be fine just talking to a select few of you that I am actually capable of holding a meaningful conversation with.
