Well, like. Lots of people here could use some inspiration atm, me included. x3 So I decided we should have this topic where we post inspirational or sad rl stories, as well as stories of good samaritans and stuff. xP POST YOURS HERE.
#1: (Not really 'inspirational', but I found it sweet) Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room's only window. The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men talked for hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation.
Every afternoon when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window. The man in the other bed began to live for those one-hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the world outside.
The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance. As the man by the window described all this in exquisite detail, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine the picturesque scene.
One warm afternoon the man by the window described a parade passing by. Although the other man couldn't hear the band - he could see it. In his mind's eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words.
Days and weeks passed. One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep. She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away.
As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone.
Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the real world outside. He strained to slowly turn to look out the window beside the bed. It faced a blank wall. The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window. The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall. She said, "Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you."
#2: (This one really got me about the selflessness of some, and the selfishness of others) There was a blind girl who hated herself because she was blind. She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her. She told her boyfriend, "If I could only see the world, I will marry you."
One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her. When the bandages came off, she was able to see everything, including her boyfriend.
He asked her, "Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?" The girl looked at her boyfriend and saw that he was blind. The sight of his closed eyelids shocked her. She hadn't expected that. The thought of looking at them the rest of her life led her to refuse to marry him.
Her boyfriend left in tears and days later had a note sent to her saying, "Take good care of your eyes, my dear, for before they were yours, they were mine."
#3: (This one's quite inspirational. Beware, not for the emotionally fragile. x3)

ANYWAYZ Here's one I made up based on one I heard before:
A man walked up to the White House. He saw a guard there, and spoke to him. He said, "Sir, I'd like to speak with President Bush." The guard looked back at him and answered, "Sir, George Bush no longer lives here." The man slowly nodded and said, "Well, okay then." And he left. The next day, the man was back. Again, he asked the guard, "Sir, I'd like to speak with President Bush." And again, the guard told him, "Sir, George Bush no longer lives here." The man again, nodded and left. The man kept coming back day after day, and this happened every time. One day, the guard, slowly getting tired of this, cut him off before he could ask the same thing again. "Sir, you come here every day asking to speak with President Bush, and every day, I tell you that he no longer lives here. Why do you continue to do this?" The man looked squarely at the guard and said, "Oh, well, it's just because I like hearing that." At that, the guard saluted him and said "Yes, sir!"
