Britain's 105-year-old virgin puts her longevity down to a life of celibacy.
Clara Meadmore, who will celebrate her birthday tomorrow, says she never married or had a boyfriend because she was always "too busy".
"I have just never been interested in or fancied having sex," the
Daily Mail reported Ms Meadmore as saying.
"I imagine there is a lot of hassle involved and I have always been busy doing other things."
The Glasgow-born retiree made the decision to avoid sex at the age of 12.
"People have asked whether I am a homosexual and the answer is no," Ms Meadmore said.
"When I was a girl you only had sex with your husband and I never married."
Born in 1903, Ms Meadmore can remember the outbreak of the First World War and the sinking of the Titanic.
When not working as a secretary or house cleaner, she occupied herself with hobbies including reading, gardening, walking and cooking.
After knocking back "several" marriage proposals, Ms Meadmore soon found herself "too old to marry anyway".
"Everything seems so fast these days. I don't know a lot about young people or the way they do things," she said.
"I'm sure it's very different."
